Mail Me A Letter!

Every year in Classroom 16 students got the experience of having the joy of writing and receiving Letters from their Classmates! Friendly expressions of thoughts and feelings about many things in their real lives.

Students had Cards with their names on them. These were mixed-up and passed-out. Whosever name you got, you wrote them a Letter!

Usually a topic to write about was given by Mr. Stathis. Then students wrote to their classmate with their personal ideas and feelings on the topic.

In the last paragraph they would ask a question or two, usually ending with something like: "What do you think about that?" That way they could look forward to a reply from the person they wrote!

A beginning example....

What a fun way to practice writing, thinking and feeling and communicating about real ideas and feelings!

The students learn to properly write a letter, making it look nice with paragraphs which each has different parts of their message. They indent, indent their paragraphs, so whoever gets the letter is impressed with the care that went into writing it!

When finished writing, Mr. Stathis would review it to give any advice on fixing it if needed. Then when finished completely, students folded their letters, put TO: and From: on the outside, and dropped it in the Mailbox!

After most were finished, then came the Classroom Duty 'Mail Deliverers' to Do Their Duty!

Caleb holds the Mailbox, Maggie ready to assist in delivery!

That's a lot of Letters to deliver!

Each student had a Mail Box of their own that they had each decorated and with their names on them. The Mail Deliverers put the Letters in the student mailbox of who it was addresed to!

Darn, this kid moved away. A letter never to be received filled with ideas to share.

C.J. got a couple of letters!

After enjoying reading their Letters, students then wrote back to the person who wrote to them.

Students really getting into it, communicating from within themselves, through Writing, through the Mail, with a personal message for a friend.

Then mailing their response Letter, and it starts all over again!

Mail Me A Letter! Classroom 16! What a Great Place to have been a child!
